Our Mission
The mission of the Alamo Heights School Foundation is to unite our community to invest in our schools, address insufficient state funding, and empower our teachers and students to help every student achieve their full potential.
About
For 55 years, our community has refused to let a funding gap define what an Alamo Heights education can be. We are the parents, alumni, grandparents, and neighbors who fund the teachers, sustain the excellence, and build the future of AHISD, together.
In 1969, state budget cuts put the quality of Alamo Heights schools at risk. Rather than watch the standards that defined this district erode, a small group of parents, alumni, and neighbors decided to act. In 1971, they formalized that commitment and founded what would become the first public school foundation in the United States.
More than five decades later, their descendants still live in this community, and the organization they built has grown alongside it. What began as a grassroots response to a funding gap is now a sophisticated philanthropic engine. Having provided over $18 million in private funding while managing over $17 million in assets.
The mission of the Alamo Heights School Foundation is to unite our community to invest in our schools, address insufficient state funding, and empower our teachers and students to help every student achieve their full potential.
Our vision is to ensure that Alamo Heights ISD remains the undeniable first choice for families and educators. A district driven by a powerful, united community. We're building a future where every child has access to extraordinary opportunities, teachers are empowered and competitively compensated, and sustainable funding ensures an exceptional education no matter the obstacles. Together, we're continuing to demonstrate what's possible in public education.
